Warranty Policy
U-Solar SA (PTY) LTD ("U-Solar") is committed to providing high-quality products backed by reliable warranties. Please review the following warranty conditions carefully before making a purchase:
Warranty Conditions
1. Defective or Manufacturer-Damaged Items:
We will only replace items that are defective or damaged by the manufacturer.
2. Installation Requirements:
All U-Solar products must be installed by a qualified electrician holding either a wireman's license or a Master Electrician accreditation recognized by the Department of Labour. Additionally, a current Electrical Certificate of Compliance (COC), not older than two years, must be provided. The installation must comply with SANS 10142, NRS 097-2-1, SANS 62930, SANS 10199, and SANS 10313 regulations.
Failure to Comply:
If these conditions are not met, all warranties are voided, no refunds will be issued, and no returns will be valid.
3. Warranty Coverage Criteria:
Refunds or replacements will only be considered if all conditions are met:
- The equipment must be installed by a qualified electrician in accordance with all the aforementioned SANS and NRS regulations.
- All solar installations for warranty purposes must include adequate DC and AC surge protection devices.
4. Warranty Registration:
To register for warranty coverage, the following documents are required:
- Certificate of Compliance (COC)
- Purchase Invoice
- Pre- and post-installation photographs
- AC Combiner Box (Image with cover removed to display wiring)
- DC Combiner Box (Image with labels visible)
- DC Combiner Box (Image with cover removed to display wiring)
- Video demonstrating DC and AC wiring leading into the inverter, and overall installation setup. We recommend that the installer records a slow-paced video for our team to thoroughly review all aspects.
- Proof of installer's wireman’s license or Master Electrician qualifications
5. Warranty Exclusions:
The warranty does not cover damage or defects resulting from:
- Misuse, abuse, or improper installation
- Unauthorized modifications or repairs
- Failure to comply with provided instructions or guidelines
- Acts of nature, including lightning, floods, or earthquakes
6. Timely Reporting:
Warranty claims must be initiated within 2 days of discovering the defect. Failure to report the defect within this period may result in the claim being denied.
7. Proof of Purchase:
To be eligible for warranty coverage, the original purchase receipt must be provided at the time of the claim. Without proof of purchase, the warranty claim will not be processed.
8. Shipping Costs:
Customers are responsible for all shipping costs associated with returning defective products to U-Solar for inspection. U-Solar will cover the shipping costs for returning the repaired or replaced product to the customer.
9. HY Green Energy Inverters Warranty Terms:
- General models: 3 years
- IP65 solar versions: 5 years
Conditions:
- Installation must be done by following the manufacturer's manuals for installation and operation.
- Include copies of the Department of Labour OHS Act 1993 and Certificate of Compliance.
- Warranty is valid for original purchasers in specified territories only.
- Covers inverter defects only; excludes ancillary items, consequential damages, and labor costs.
- South African warranty supplements Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008.
10. HY Green Energy Inverters Warranty Claim Procedure:
- Initiate a warranty claim within 2 days of discovering the defect.
- Provide necessary documentation and return the inverter to HY Green Energy for inspection.
- Warranty void if conditions are not met or if damage is due to incorrect installation or non-compliance.

Covers inverter defects only; excludes ancillary items, consequential damages, and labour costs. HY Green Energy's liability is limited to the invoiced selling price.

South African warranty supplements Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008. Repaired or replaced inverters under CPA claims to maintain the original warranty period.

These warranties are the sole applicable ones. No other warranties apply.
For any Inverter issues during the warranty period, follow these steps:

Initiate a warranty claim within 2 days of discovering the defect. Return the Inverter as well as provide packaging, invoice copy, completed form, and claim documents to U-Solar.

The inverter will inspected and may be tested.

Based on inspection:

Valid claims: Inverter repair or replacement. The remaining warranty applies.

Invalid claims: Repair estimate provided. Basic test fee if declined. Inverter disposal if needed.

No fault found: Basic test fee applies. Coordination for temporary replacement units, if issued.

Warranty void if:

No proof of purchase or registration.

Tampered or non-authentic serial number.
-
Warranty period exceeded or misuse damage.

Incorrect installation or non-compliance.

Damage from surges, improper maintenance, environmental factors or Acts of God.

11. Ganfeng Lithium Battery Warranty Terms:
This applies to the following models:

Designed for a 10-year lifespan, Ganfeng LiEnergy warrants a minimum of 10 years or 4000 discharge cycles at 80% depth of 0.2C charge, whichever comes first (under lab conditions).
Excludes accessories. Covers repair or replacement, maintaining the original warranty period. Warranty begins either from:

Six (6) months after the manufacturing date.
Warranty Conditions:

The battery is designated for indoor use exclusively; outdoor usage renders the warranty void.

It is imperative to keep the batteries free from any corrosive substances.
-
Warranty coverage does not extend to damages resulting from neglect, abuse, or acts of nature.
-
The warranty does not cover any damages incurred due to surges from inverters or charging devices.
-
The warranty becomes invalid if there is any deviation from the prescribed installation procedures or setup.

Regular maintenance requires a refresh charge every 5-6 months during storage.

Any attempts to tamper with the firmware or Battery Management System (BMS) will result in the warranty being voided.
-
The warranty is invalidated if the battery is subjected to excessive current draw beyond specified parameters.

It is emphasised that the warranty is non-transferable and solely applicable to the original purchaser.

Altering or removing the serial number will render the warranty null and void.
-
Defective performance must demonstrate a capacity of ≤50% during the warranty period to qualify for a claim.

Mixing the battery with non-Ganfeng counterparts will nullify the warranty.
-
Proper installation by a Ganfeng-approved installer is a prerequisite for warranty validity.

Battery relocation necessitates disconnection and reinstallation by a Ganfeng-endorsed professional.

A standard 5-year warranty is provided for the Battery Management System (BMS) and trip switch, excluding instances of excessive manual intervention.

To optimise longevity and maintain warranty coverage, it is recommended to operate the battery below 25°C. Operation above this threshold may compromise the warranty.
12. Ganfeng Lithium Battery Warranty Claim Procedure:

Report claims within 48 hours of detecting a defect by notifying the approved reseller.

Provide the procurement invoice to the reseller, indicating the purchase date.

U-Solar will arrange shipment of the battery to a service center where the battery will be assessed for claim validity, and valid claims undergo necessary repairs and servicing.

Our service centre will assess the battery's condition to determine claim validity.

Valid claims undergo necessary repairs and servicing.
-
Replaced parts become Gan Feng's property.

Clients are responsible for unit delivery and collection. Disputes over evaluations require third-party testing, with clients bearing the costs unless the claim is proven valid.

Capacity testing conditions include: testing a single module, maintaining a 25°C ± 2°C ambient and initial temperature, charging at 50A to 3.65V per cell, and discharging at 50 Amps until all voltages drop below 2.50Vdc.
13. Limitation of Liability:
The warranty does not cover:
- Consequential damages resulting from product defects.
- Indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.
- Liability is limited to the purchase price of the product.
14. Transferability:
This warranty is non-transferable and only applies to the original purchaser.
15. Governing Law:
This warranty policy is governed by the laws of South Africa.
Encouragement to Insure Installations:
We strongly recommend that customers include their solar or backup power installations in their home insurance policies. Please note that insurance coverage will not be valid without a current and valid Certificate of Compliance (COC).
